Instagram vs Snapchat Stories

Instagram vs Snapchat Stories. Everybody is talking about it; no one saw it coming.
Do we love it? Do we hate it? Too soon to know. But what we do know for sure is that they look almost exactly the same, how confusing! Now brands, bloggers and you need to diversify the content in one more social network.
Three weeks later it all started, your favourite fashion bloggers are finally telling you what they think and how they're managing to keep their profiles active on both apps.

What fashion bloggers think...

For how long have you been using Snapchat? And what kind of content you post mainly?

Lucy 'Ever since it came out basically! I used to keep it quite personal and post stuff with friends and what I do on a daily basis and then maybe about a year ago I started to post content and use it as a place to promote my blog etc!'

What are the main differences between IG and Snapchat stories for you being a blogger?

Lucy 'The main and the best difference is that a lot more people watch my instagram story, its a better and easier way to content with followers and get the engagement on a bit more behind the scenes and personal level with all your followers on instagram. Also anyone can see what you’re doing they don’t have to follow or add you so this is more engagement for new followers if they see something they like they might follow you.'

Are you posting less on Snapchat since you started using IG stories? If yes, why?

Lucy '100% yes, because I’m on instagram all the time anyway so when I see the add button I can quickly share whatever it is I’m doing instead of going to another app to do so.'

Lucy 'I love the filters! We need them on Instagram asap so I can make more video selfies haha, I think that’s the only thing I miss and go back to use Snapchat for and also I love how easy it is to talk to people, it’s more of a personal place for me and my friends to post now I think since instagram stories has come out.'

What do you love about IG Stories?

Lucy 'How its on the same app as my main follower count therefore more people watch me so its great for the content of my blog, I can keep posting ‘look at this post’ or whatever instead of posting a photo on my Instagram profile I can just quickly do it there. I also love that everyone I follow on instagram now has pretty much been made to use a Snapchat like feature so all the people that I didn’t follow on Snapchat is just straight away on there already! it’s great best thing to happen to the app I think personally.'

Amy  'The biggest difference for me is that Snapchat allows you to use different filters and makes it easier to hide the fact you're having a bad hair day! Also, Snapchat I find is more instant so my Snapchat is people who i care about seeing what they are up to whereas Instagram is people I follow which I normally follow because I like their photography not so much their daily activities.'

Amy  'I am actually posting less on my snap chat now, I don't know why as I do prefer it over Instagram but I seem to be on Instagram a lot so the app is already open so I use it to post what I'm doing. Also it's a great way of cheating the system with the new algorithm as you can let people know that you have just uploaded new content.'

Amy 'I love that I can choose who's stories I see on snapchat and I can choose who sends me direct snaps.'

Amy 'What I love about Instagram stories is that I'm learning things about people I've never spoken to before. It almost breaks the stigma that social media is a lie. Yes you can hide behind pretty pictures but it's not necessarily a lie. Instagram stories feel a bit more honest that Instagram posts as you don't have to stick to a 'theme'

Carolina 'The visibility. It is now a new window for the world to see who you really are and what your brand stands for!'

Carolina 'The filters, and the “privacy” - if someone has gone through the trouble of adding you by username - they really want to know who you are! that is a massive compliment.'

What do you love about Snapchat?

Nicole 'I love the filters on Snap. They just add a fun flair.'

Nicole 'I love that IG stories are more convenient.'

Amy 'I have been using Snapchat for around 3 years, I normally post whatever I am doing at that second. I also use it to give sneak previews of things that I get sent (blogger mail) I use it to show who I am with or what events I am attending, and also sneak previews of blog posts and what people can expect to come.'

Nicole 'I first got into Snapchat about a year ago.  I try to show more of my personality on Snapchat. I let my goofy side out on there. I snap more of my dogs and husband and social life with friends on Snap.'

Carolina 'The main technical difference -right now- between Instagram Stories and Snapchat are the filters. Snapchat allows you to create more entertainment and diversify content. Also Insta stories is still fixing some glitches that I am sure will be sorted out shortly. The greatest difference between the two however, is the audience - all of a sudden, all my Instragrammers see my videos. People who don’t care for Snapchat or don’t log in as regularly - or simply don´t want to go through the trouble of adding you.'

Nicole 'I have been using the IG story more for fashion related things. Collaborations and behind the scenes of photo shoots I style. I like the feature of people being able to respond in the DMs. I do wish they had more filters. I find some times my stories don't load correctly.'

Carolina 'No. I have posted just as much on Snapchat as before. IT has just created more work for me. I try to create different content in both.'

Nicole 'I think it's easier to post on IG stories. It's right there. I don't have to open a new app. I am pretty busy so any time saving counts!'
